The purpose of this lecture is to explore and generate the point and interval estimates for the mean prediction value of the dependent variable for a specific value of the independent variable. The confidence interval for the mean value is subject to variation based on the value of the dependent variable, with the smallest interval occurring when the dependent variable is at its average value. In a subsequent section, we will examine the coefficient of determination, its derivation, and its interpretation within the framework of the linear regression model.
